Teacher/pastor shot dead in Clarendon
MAY PEN, Clarendon — The Clarendon police were yesterday investigating the shooting death of Glenmuir High School teacher Audley Coleman, at his home in Toby Heights, close to Free Town in central Clarendon, earlier in the morning.
Police say Coleman, who was in his late fifties, was getting assistance to repair a door which was damaged during a break-in on Tuesday night when he was shot by someone on the outside.
The shooting occurred at about 9:55 am, police say.
Investigators say that during the housebreaking Tuesday night, robbers took items including two laptop computers.
Clarendon’s police chief, Superintendent Fitz Bailey, told the Jamaica Observer there was no evidence Coleman was robbed during Wednesday morning’s shooting incident.
“We cannot say the motive was robbery; we have not yet established a motive,” Bailey said.
Coleman, who taught geography at Glenmuir, was also pastor of the Four Paths Berean Church of God, also in Clarendon.
