Ready to Flex at Sting
BORN in Jamaica and raised in the United Kingdom, Young Flex PD will make his Jamaican debut Saturday on what is, arguably, dancehall’s toughest stage.
He will perform on Sting at Jamworld in Portmore. Young Flex PD is part of ‘The Bad Boys of London’ segment.
Speaking with Jamaica Observer, the singjay, whose given name is Ronald Grossett, promised an energetic set.
“I will be giving it my all musically. This platform is a wonderful opportunity for any artiste to reach the mass of their fans. It’s indeed a milestone in my career as the show showcases a plethora of recording acts across the generations,” he said.
Young Flex PD was born in St Thomas and raised in Kingston. At age 14, he migrated to North-West London to live with his father.
After encouragement from family and friends, he embarked on a music career. His first set of releases included Me God Bless, Endless Party and Up Down. In 2012, he got his breakthrough with the song, Nah Give Up.
“It became a hit, especially in the UK. That single motivated me and the studio booth became my life,” he said.
His biggest hit, however, is Top Shelf which features Jamaican artiste Savage. It was released in late 2014.
This year, Young Flex PD was the opening act for Gully Bop, Dexta Daps and Ghost, when they performed in the UK.
