John Campbell to lead Scorpions in Super50 tournament
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Left-hand opener John Campbell will captain the Jamaica Scorpions squad for the regional Super50 tournament, scheduled to begin January 7.
The dashing 22-year-old batsman, a former West Indies youth player, has played eight matches in regional limited-overs cricket. He has a highest score of 71 and an average of 33.
Attacking batsman Jermaine Harrison is a first-time inclusion in the 14-man squad. The 30-year-old player, a member of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF), was outstanding during the trial matches.
He struck 82 in the opening game, before adding 118 in game two and 63 in the third encounter. Harrison’s only failure came in Sunday’s fourth game when he made four.
“I’m elated because I’ve worked hard and it has paid off,” Harrison told OBSERVER ONLINE.
