30-year-old Harrison makes Scorpions squad
Attacking batsman Jermaine Harrison has been included in the Jamaica Scorpions squad for the Super50 tournament scheduled to begin January 7.
The 30-year-old player, a member of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF), had a fantastic run in the trial matches.
He struck 82 in the opening game, before adding 118 in game two and 63 in the third encounter. The tall opener’s only failure came in yesterday’s fourth game when he made four.
“I’m elated because I’ve worked hard and it has paid off. I just have to put in the time and keep working. I want to hit the ground running, so once selected in the starting team I want to perform and do well,” Harrison told the Jamaica Observer yesterday.
West Indies players Jermaine Blackwood and Jerome Taylor have also been included in the 14-man squad.
Meanwhile, Herman Henry struck an unbeaten half-century for Ramaal Lewis XI against Brandon King XI in yesterday’s abbreviated limited-overs trial match at Kensington Park.
When the game was called off Lewis XI were 158-2, in search of 192 runs for victory with 16 overs still remaining.
Scores: King XI 191 (43 overs); Lewis XI 158-2 (34 overs)
Henry was on 58, while former Jamaica four-day Captain Tamar Lambert was not out on 36.
Left-hander Trevon Griffith, who made a century in the third trial match on Saturday, contributed 41 yesterday.
Left-arm pacer Sheldon Cotterell took 1-13 off four overs for King XI.
Earlier yesterday, King XI, who batted first after winning the toss, could only manage 191 all out.

Fast bowler Marquino Mindley led Lewis XI with 2-12 off five overs. He was supported by left-arm finger-spinner Coi Thompson (2-21), pacer Reynard Leveridge (2-38) and leg-spinner Damion Jacobs (2-45).
