Bahamians warned about cruise ship jobs via Internet
NASSAU, Bahamas (CMC) – Bahamians are being warned against seeking employment on cruise liners after indicating that a listing of job vacancies for the Costa Cruise Line Australia is possibly an Internet hoax.
The Bahamas Department of Labour said it was advising the public to exercise caution when seeking cruise ship jobs via the Internet in order to avoid falling victim to online scams.
“It has recently come to the attention of the Department of Labour that a listing of job vacancies for the Costa Cruise Line Australia is possibly an Internet hoax, and urges the public to beware.”
The Department said that people should not forward any money if asked to do so; and those currently employed should not tender their resignations in pursuit of any vacancy being offered by Costa Cruise Line Australia.
“Getting a job on a cruise ship is a very difficult and lengthy process. If it sounds too good to be true, it most likely isn’t true,” the Department of Labour said in a posting on its Facebook page.
