2 arrested after gun, ammo seized in St Thomas
ST THOMAS, Jamaica — The Morant Bay police seized a firearm and three rounds of ammunition in Barking Lodge, Morant Bay, St Thomas, on Friday.
Two men were arrested in connection with the seizure.
Reports from the police’s Corporate Communications Unit are that about 7:45 pm, a police team on patrol observed two men acting suspiciously. The officers accosted the men and conducted a search, which reportedly revealed a Jennings 9mm semi-automatic pistol with three 9mm rounds.
One of the men, 34-year-old Orace Brisset of Brownsman Hill in the parish, was charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition. The police say he is scheduled to appear before the Morant Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court on Monday, December 21.
The identity of the other man is reportedly being withheld pending further investigation.
