Business slow this year, owners complain
KINGSTON, Jamaica – With less than a week before Christmas, some business operators are reporting a decline in holiday shopping compared to last year.
Business operators however say despite the slowdown they are hoping things will improve.
“Last year this time things were much better but we are keeping our fingers cross and hoping that things will improve,” said the operator of Phantan Hardware in Linstead, St Catherine.
Operators of Irie Hardware in Barbican, St Andrew shared similar sentiments.
“Things are moving at a pace with several days left before Christmas we are confident things will pick up,” Dianna Lodge, a representative of the organisation told Observer Online.
For operators at Max Wholesale along Waltham Park Road, the mood was the same.
“Right now we understand say things slow the people them no have the money like last year but we confident the Christmas tradition will bring out the people,” an employee said.
