Wayyy up at Holy Childhood BBQ
Mas Camp was completely taken over by this year’s Holy Childhood High BBQ and teenAGE was there to capture it all. Missed it?
Don’t worry, by the time we’re done you’ll feel like you were right there on the dance floor.
The night started off with a whole lot more vibes and excitement than one would expect. Sure the place wasn’t exactly packed, but it was still early and no one was letting a scanty dance floor deter them from dancing to Elephant Man and rocking out to Pink.
There was a fashion show in the first half hour that was hosted by a parent/educator/friend to the school; it featured the young ladies who were finalists in the Miss Holy Childhood Competition.
After that it was straight party time. Entertained by Rebel Sound on the turn tables, the patrons showed the dance floor what they were made of. From dancehall to soca to hip hop and reggae, Rebel Sound played it all and the party goers showed no qualms with it. Everyone was constantly dancing, it really didn’t matter what was playing from the speakers, they took it all in stride; the vibe was all the way up!
At minutes to 11 the main attraction of the event, Dancehall artist Razor B, made his way to the stage. He appearance was met with screams of approval as he pelted the audience with hits.
He brought the party on the stage when he introduced two of his female dancers and a male dance group who worked the stage like pros, getting the audience even more hyped.
He even brought on one of the patrons to demonstrate her prowess at one of his dance moves. Not a frown was in sight.
After Razor B’s performance it was back to business and the turn tables were turned to once again. Music was blaring and the now half packed dance floor was once again dancing up a storm. This would continue until the very end of the event.
Sure the event could have been a bit more organized and the speakers could have been better but no one really noticed because they were having so much fun. Host Keke only came on stage once and didn’t even take the mic, but no one made it bother them. Fun is what they went to have and fun is what they had.
All in all, we would definitely rate this year’s Holy Childhood BBQ a teenPARTY 45. Good vibrations, good people and good food made this event a knock out of the park.
