Three-timer for Nunes
TRAINER Anthony Nunes returned to form, saddling a three-timer on the 10-race Jamaica Racehorse Trainers’ Association (JRTA) programme at Caymanas Park last Saturday.
Nunes started in the fifth race when his bay colt Bigdaddykool, ridden by Shane Ellis, came from last to first to beat Golden Glory by four lengths in this year’s renewal of the $800,000 Andrew HB Aguilar Memorial Cup, a maiden special weight event for native-bred two-yearolds over a mile.
The winning time was 1:41:4 minutes. Nunes continued in the seventh race with Twilight Rocket, under Linton Steadman, who got the better of He’s A Diamond and Queen Of The Town by two-and-threequarter lengths in 1:32:3 minutes in a maiden-condition race for four-year-olds and upward going over 1,400 metres.
The cap came in the ‘night pan’ when Littlemissemmy, the mount of Dane Dawkins, made all convincingly to win the JRTA trophy by six-and-a-half lengths over King Within and Sweet Dimension in the Restricted Allowance event for native-bred three-year-olds non-winners of two going over 1,200 metres. The winning time was 1:14:1 minutes.
With those three winners, Nunes moved to 41 wins for the year.
Six horses claimed on Saturday

First-time winners
DREAM Admiral and Twilight Rocket released their maiden tags at Caymanas Park on Saturday’s 10-race programme.
With Richard Mitchell riding for trainer Harry Parsard, Dream Admiral (Seeking The Glory – Pure Mud) cruised home by five lengths over Lazza (Shamaree Muir) and Mini Lee (Robert Halledeen) in a maiden-claiming ($500,000-$450,000) event for three-year-olds going 1,500 metres.
The winning time was 1:36:3 minutes. Twilight Rocket profited from the rider change – with apprentice Linton Steadman taking the reins instead of regular rider Shane Ellis – and finally got to the winning post in front after many attempts.
Trained by Anthony Nunes, Twilight Rocket out-battled rivals to win by two-and-three-quarter lengths over He’s A Diamond (Richard Mitchell) and Queen Of The Town (Jevvanne Erwin) going 1,400 metres.
Diferentgeneration scores overdue win
DIFERENTGENERATION broke a seven-month winning drought when he scored a fighting win in a highclaiming ($550,000-$500,000) event, going over 1,000 metres straight, at Caymanas Park last Saturday.
Ridden by Dane Dawkins and trained by Phillip Lee, Diferentgeneration made all to win by one length over stablemade Sunlight Express (Linton Steadman) and Force De Jour (Harristion Lewis) in a quick 0:58:2 seconds.
