Carlene’s Billboard calling
With weeks to go before 2015 ends, the Jamaica Observer reaches out in this tri-weekly slot to entertainment personalities for their views on what the year meant to them.
Released by Glory Music in late 2014, the set peaked at number two on that table and sold over 4,000 copies; respectable figures, considering the slump in sales for Jamaican music.
For Davis,
Dripping Blood‘s performance transcends financial returns.
“We have been put into a position that we can contribute to the fight against the Ebola disease in Africa, so we have instructed (distributors) VP Records to make such payments. This is the high point for me in 2015,” she said.
Her first album in six years,
Dripping Blood is Davis’s 10th gospel set and her 25th overall. It gave the Clarendon-born artiste her firstBillboard entry.
“Surprised, yes, but more grateful because it was all God’s doing in His time,” she said.
Davis is currently working on her new album scheduled for release in 2016.
