Amateur Swimming Association of Jamaica gets new president
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Andel Lamey is the new president of the Amateur Swimming Association of Jamaica (ASAJ), after ending Martin Lyn’s six-year reign at Wednesday night’s annual general meeting at the Conference Room of the Jamaica Olympic Association.
Lamey surprised the incumbent and secured 22 votes to Lyn’s 20 for the top position and will serve as president for the period 2015-2017.
Seven positions were up for grabs which saw three new faces being added to the executive board.
Wendy Lee defeated incumbent Allan Marsh and Nadav Goren for the post of vice president swimming. Lee got 22 votes to Marsh’s 14 and Goren’s six votes.
Lance Rochester returned as vice president water polo unopposed, and Sharon Smith filled the vacant spot of vice president synchronized swimming, also unopposed.
Adrian Lyn secured 32 votes for the position of secretary ahead of Lavina McClure, who got 10 votes. Florence Grizle-Williams was unopposed as treasurer as Paul Campbell retained his position as assistant treasurer.
