UWI add to Waterhouse’s misery
UWI FC defeated 10-man Waterhouse 1-0 to continue their upward mobility in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) at the UWI Bowl yesterday.
In a scrappy 90 minutes, Deno Schaffe scored a 38-minute goal that gained three vital points for UWI, who moved up two places to seventh on 19 points.
Consecutive defeats have now left Waterhouse rooted at the bottom of the RSPL standing on 13 points.
Waterhouse, as they did in their previous game against Harbour View, created no more than three good scoring chances.
The most glaring miss came from Romario Campbell in minute 75, with only the UWI goalkeeper Amal Knight to beat he lifted the ball high over the crossbar from inside the box.
Second half substitute Kemar Beckford also went close as his shot went wide of the far post.
Play became contentious in the latter part of the second half and Campbell was shown the red card by referee Oshane Nation for an indiscretion in minute 90+1.
