STETHS coach expects tough D’Cup final
COACH Omar Wedderburn says his STETHS players are eagerly anticipating their ISSA/Flow daCosta Cup final match-up with Dinthill Technical, which is scheduled for the Montego Bay Sports Complex in St James this evening.
Match time is 4:30.
Both sides will be facing each other for the second time this season, having contested the Ben Francis semi-final just about two weeks ago, which STETHS won 7-6 on penalties following a 2-2 draw after regulation and extra-time.
But Wedderburn, who side will be hunting the rural area double, said the memory from that game has already faded, with their focus now fixed entirely on today’s fixture.
“Once we play a game we don’t really dwell on it,” he said. “We look towards the future and the one that is most important to us now.”
He is, however, expecting a tough, if not exciting, encounter in the ‘Second City’.
“I think this will be a very good game,” he reasoned, “and what is also good about it is that the two top strikers in the competition (Michael Kerr of STETHS and Rodave Murray of Dinthill) will be go up against each other.”
And Wedderburn said his troops, who will be contesting a fourth successive final, are confident of correcting last season’s 3-0 defeat to Clarendon College in the final.
“They know the task at hand, and everybody is really hyped about this game,” said Wedderburn. “We are just hoping to stay focus and execute a good game.”
