‘Health you cultivate’ reaches out
SCORES of people turned out to the Health You Cultivate Family Care free health fair recently, at its Hope Road, St Andrew, headquarters.
The health fair, which was used by the company to launch its services, zoned in on residents living on Hope Road and surrounding communities.
According to Dr Dicoda Johnson, the objectives for hosting the health fair were realised.
“I do believe that we achieved all that we set out to do,” Dr Johnson said. “The main objectives were to sensitise individuals in the area about the importance of health care. We also wanted to meet our prospective patients and build a relationship with them.
“For us, this is also a way to introduce a fresh approach and concept to health care,” she added.
Conceptualised in 2014, “Health You Cultivate” became a reality earlier this year.
The company, according to a news release, provides a wide range of services including kids care, medicals, maternity care, home visits, health screening, hypertension management, vaccinations, pap smears, diabetic care, counselling, minor procedures, STI screening, diet programmes, preventative care, health coaching, and rehabilitation physiotherapy.
Charmaine Baxter, who travelled from Liguanea to attend the health fair, described her experience.
“I had to come out to experience this for myself. I got a free massage, blood sugar and blood pressure checks,” she explained. “I also saw the physiotherapist and this was all free. I certainly will be coming back to experience this.”
Garfield Reynolds, who is in his late sixties, also found the health fair beneficial.
“Is a long time I haven’t done any health checks and I had to make use of this opportunity,” he said. “The staff is very friendly and they go the extra mile in how they deal with you.”
Dr Johnson said the business targets families and individuals who are interested in wholistic health and living at peak potential and productivity.
She also explained why people needed to pay attention to their health.
“It is quite possible to go through this earthly experience like plants growing wildly, confused, diseased, sick, and in the case of humans — depressed and miserable. The good news is, unlike the plants, we can seek the knowledge and guidance necessary to groom, nurture and cultivate our health so that we can enjoy life to the fullest as mentally, physically and spiritually happy individuals. Many times extending life,” she insisted.
She said that part of the business’s thrust is to be different in terms of how health care is delivered.
“We try to be as attentive and interactive as possible while ensuring follow-up,” Dr Johnson explained. “Based on the response we got today, we plan to have the health fair at least annually.”
