$143m-contract to improve Princess Margaret Hospital
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A contract valued at just over J$143 million has been signed for the renovation and expansion of the Accident and Emergency Department of the Princess Margaret Hospital in St Thomas.
With funding provided by the National Health Fund the contract was signed at an official ceremony on the compound of the facility today.
Health Minister Horace Dalley said that over the years much development have taken place at the Princess Margaret Hospital.
I watched this hospital developing over the years into a beautiful place. A lot has been done in health since 2012. Now we are spending over $143 million on this project to create a more comfortable and workable space for staff and clients,” he said.
The scope of work of the project includes roof construction, ceiling, wall and floor finishes, plumbing, electrical installation, external works, painting, door and window installation, installation of air conditioning, grill work, landscaping, roof finish and rain water disposal, installation of fittings and installation of fire safety and lightening protection mechanisms.
The project is planned for completion in about 12 months.
