Mission Catwalk All Stars tonight!
Hey young fashionistas, as Mission Catwalk All Star season comes to a close, we salute the executive producer Keneea Linton- George and her team.
Year after year they have provided an avenue for young designers across the Caribbean to showcase their talented work; with a winner being selected at the end. This competition has helped a myriad of designers transition into the challenging but rewarding world of fashion.
Season five; Mission Catwalk All Stars ends tonight with three finalists from across the Caribbean, competing to be ruler of the catwalk. Renardo Loyd is from Jamaica, Ryan Chan a Trinidadian and David Rolle is repping The Bahamas. teenAGE was a part of the runway show, showcasing these designs on Sunday. While a winner must be selected, we must say all designs were captivating and oozed star quality.
Instead of choosing our own winner, we have decided to choose a winner from each finalist’s collection. This is Rash-On Fashion.
The night’s festivities began with Trinidadian Ryan Chan, who while being small in stature; had designs that packed the ultimate punch. Chan’s collection featured a flirtier and rouge look. He labeled this as an attempt to be more extroverted and ‘come out of his shell’. With flashes of sheer and lace, in hues of black, pink and nude; Chan undeniably showcased all- star quality. The design below is my favourite because of its exquisite fabric, cut and finish. Also the model forces you to pay attention due to her captivating personality.
The Bahamian, David Rolle, did not disappoint. His collection left the audience speechless at many points in the evening. With designs inspired by the ancestral Indians of The Bahamas, Rolle’s designs were beautiful, fluid and had a few hints of flirty. He also employed a lot of sheer and lace in shades of purple, blue and white. While Rolle’s designs were of a more conservative feel they scream simplicity, class and wear ability. The design below is my favourite from the collection, this is due to its simplicity and commanding classiness, also it was tailored to perfection.
The audience awaited Jamaican Renardo Lloyd’s designs with bated breath and we were oh so satisfied. Lloyd gave you numerous reasons for which to cheer, taking a different approach in fashion from his competitors. He showcased talent and depth with a collection he rightly called ‘Modern Goddess’. The designs had rich colours of mustard, gold and purple. Superb tailoring was on display here with designs fit for a woman of class, grace and style. The design below is my favourite from the collection. Why, is self-explanatory.
Only one designer will win sadly, and while we aren’t sure who, all three finalists show talent and dedication that is unmatched. Tune in tonight on TVJ at 8:30 to find out who will rule the catwalk.
