STETHS, Dinthill look to join them
CLARENDON PARK, Clarendon — Semi-final action continues today in the ISSA/Flow Ben Francis Knockout competition with title holders St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) and Dinthill Technical down to meet at Manchester High.
Match time is 2:45 pm.
The winner of today’s game will meet Manchester High in Friday’s final which is set for Juici Park.
And whether or not they want to admit it, STETHS are the overwhelming favourites to advance.
In addition to winning the last five KO titles, they are currently the form team in the rural area, winning their last nine games while outscoring their opponents 38-8.
The bulk of those goals have been scored by the menacing Michael Kerr, who has so far netted 27 times — 14 of which came since the start of the inter-zone round.
Dinthill have also put together a list of impressive results this season, among them a 2-1 victory that effectively eliminated daCosta Cup champions Clarendon College, and they will back themselves to pull off another upset today — especially with 24-goal man Rodave Murray in their line-up.
While not as lethal as Kerr, Murray has scored some important goals for the Linstead-based Dinthill and will relish the chance to go up against a STETHS defence that, while being one of the best in the competition, tend to allow their opponents time on the ball.
