Rally round Steel Pulse documentary
STEEL Pulse have launched an online fundraiser to release a documentary on the history of the band.
According to the blacknet.co.uk website, the campaign for their Dreadtown biopic got going last Thursday in the United Kingdom through Indiegogo. Dreadtown is due for release in late 2016.
Produced by Israeli film-maker Yoni Gal and narrated by American actor Danny Glover, Dreadtown has interviews with a number of celebrities giving their views on the veteran British band, including rapper Snoop Lion, Rita Marley, Gwen Stefani, Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons; former heavyweight boxing champion Lennox Lewis and singer Alpha Blondy.
Dreadtown traces Steel Pulse’s roots to the Handsworth community in Birmingham, England, to their rise as Grammy winners and elder statesmen of reggae.
Formed as a quartet in 1975, Steel Pulse now has two core members
singer/songwriter/guitarist David Hinds, who is also a founding member; and keyboardist/singer Selwyn Brown.
The band’s classic songs include Worth His Weight in Gold (Rally Round), Blues Dance Raid and Bodyguard.
