STETHS waltz into semis with emphatic 8-1 win
SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth — Three-time champions St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) waltzed into their seventh-straight ISSA/Flow daCosta Cup semi-finals after scoring an emphatic 8-1 win over Manning’s School in their Group R quarter-final game played at the St Elizabeth Technical Sports Complex yesterday.
Michael Kerr scored four times to take his tally in the Golden Boots race to 14 and to 27 overall as STETHS won all three games in the group, the only school with a 100 per cent record in the quarter-finals to establish their credentials as favourites to at least retain their Ben Francis KO title.
They joined Dinthill Technical, Lennon High and Manchester High in the semis of the daCosta Cup and Ben Francis KO.
In the other game at Wembley Community Centre, Vere Technical edged Marcus Garvey Technical 1-0 with a goal from Shandel Senior to finish second on six points.
At STETHS, Kerr scored four times as Shawn Genus and Demar James each scored twice as STETHS continued to build up momentum after a slow start to the season.
In the semi-finals of the Ben Francis KO to be played on Monday and Tuesday at Juici Field, Manchester High will meet Lennon High, while STETHS will play Dinthill.
In the first daCosta Cup semi-final set for November 27, Manchester High will face Dinthill, while a day later, Lennon tackle STETHS.
