Dawson brace propels Boys’ Town
TWO sumptuous strikes from Andre Dawson gave Boys’ Town a 2-0 win over Reno in their Red Stripe Premier League game at the Constant Spring field yesterday.
Dawson struck in the 17th minute, firing home after latching onto a lovely through ball, then exquisitely volleyed home in the 45th minute to seal a well-deserved victory for the Red Brigades.
Boys’ Town, with their third win in their last four games and their fourth overall, jumped three placed to fifth on 15 points to end the first round set of games. It was their highest position since the start of the season.
Boys’ Town Head Coach Andrew Price was satisfied with his team’s performance, noting that the goal was achieved of getting at least 15 points in the first round.
But he wants more.
“What we want is some consistency in the team. We were able to see the depth in our team because several starters didn’t start today, because we wanted to give people an opportunity to prove themselves and they came out and did a good job,” he said.
Meanwhile, Reno have not won in their last six games and were losing for the third time this season, and have now dropped two places to eighth on 14 points.
Head Coach Michael Graham was clearly disappointed.
“The first five games we did pretty well, and when we get our first beating it knock the confidence out of the team, so we are trying to get them back up to where they were,” he said.
