Petersfield/Port Antonio game postponed due to waterlogged field
A waterlogged field caused a postponement in the game between Port Antonio and Petersfield in Flow/ISSA daCosta Cup action yesterday at Carder Park.
Organisers said the game is now set to be played today at 3:00 pm at the same venue.
Rainfall lasting two days and a heavy shower just before yesterday’s scheduled start forced officials to put off the encounter.
The field had patches of water, but the major concern of the officials was the visibility of the inner markings and the fading light.
After final examination, referee Everton Barrett called both coaches and notified them of his decision at approximately 3:45 pm.
The Petersfield coach Godfrey Drummond was concerned about the saturated field.
“The field cannot be played on in this state and we are willing to stay and play in the morning (today),” he said.
Port Antonio’s coach Marlon Hylton was not perturbed.
“I will go with the decision of the referee and ISSA,” Hylton said.
