Red-hot Humble Lion stalk Boys’ Town in RSPL
HUMBLE Lion and Boys’ Town, both riding on the back of two consecutive wins, will be hunting win number three when they clash at the Effortville Community Centre at 3:00 pm today as mid-week Red Stripe Premier League football returns.
Only four games will be on today, with the surging Harbour View taking on the University of the West Indies (UWI) at 7:00 pm; Reno playing Cavalier, and Portmore United away to Tivoli Gardens at 3:00 pm.
On Thursday, champions Arnett Gardens host Rivoli United at 6:00 pm and leaders Montego Bay United tackle Waterhouse at 3:00 pm at WesPow Park.
Humble Lion, currently in third spot on 15 points, could go joint top of the table if they utilise their home advantage and secure victory over a Boys’ Town team down in eighth spot on 12 points.
Despite struggling for goals, in which they have scored just six times from nine games, Humble Lion still manage to be in striking distance of the leaders and are fancied to secure yet another win.
The likes of Devon Hodges, Kemeel Wolfe, Andrew Vanzie and Hugh Howell should be the main players for Humble Lion, while Carlos Wright, Garfield Gillespie, Michael Campbell, Rafiek Thomas, Peter Keys, and young Shamar Nicholson should carry the fight for Boys’ Town.
Second-placed Portmore United on 15 points will be hoping to rebound from their 0-3 trouncing by Harbour View when they travel to fifth-placed Tivoli Gardens, on 14 points, in what should be an exciting encounter at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex.
The surging Harbour View, in seventh spot on 13 points will be seeking their third consecutive win against a UWI team in 11th spot on eight points.
But it will not be that straightforward as UWI are playing better than their placing suggests, and could upset the applecart.
Meanwhile, FC Reno, in sixth spot on 13 points, should take advantage of the low confidence of a Cavalier SC team in 10th spot on eight points, having lost four of their last five games.
