Boys’ Town get divine help to beat Waterhouse
Waterhouse FC crashed to their second-consecutive defeat and sixth overall after going down 0-1 to Boys’ Town in a ninth-round Red Stripe Premier League game at the Drewsland Mini Stadium on Sunday.
Shamar Nicholson rattled the Waterhouse net in the third minute to present Boys’ Town with their second win away from home that pushed them into the top half of the standing on 12 points.
Waterhouse were losing at home for the second time.
It was not a performance that Waterhouse can be justly proud of and interim coach Anthony Patrick was not amused by the indifferent performance, saying that the Waterhouse bench was so bad that it could not rise to the level of Premier League football when called upon to perform.
“This means that we will just have to wait until the opening of the January transfer window to try and improve the present squad,” he said.
Boys’ Town’s Coach Andrew Price was reservedly pleased with his team’s performance. “It was a type of workman-like performance. Today (Sunday) is our 75th anniversary, and we started the day on a good note by going to a church service at Lyndhurst Methodist Church as a team and gained some inspiration from the sermon by Pastor Mullings, who told us that we are just as good as all of us play as a team, be united and trust in the Lord. We went out there and did just that,” said Price.
Unsettled by the early goal, Waterhouse lived through a nightmarish half as a non-existent midfield served only to frustrate both their defence and forward line. Boys’ Town, on the other hand, had a little bit more quality than they would have and pressed home their advantage as Waterhouse were under constant pressure to stem the tide of the offensive flow that came their way.
