Korean film fest ends today
THE curtains come down on the second leg of the Korean Film Festival at the Palace Multiplex in Fairview, Montego Bay tonight. The event, which is free to the public, is scheduled to start at 8:15 pm.
“With the goal of making the Korean culture more accessible to Jamaican people, the Korean Embassy has been hosting the Korean film festival since 2012.
I believe that this effort will strengthen the cultural bond between Jamaica and Korea and bring the two countries a step closer to a stronger bilateral relationship going forward,” Jong Seon Lim, Charge d’affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Jamaica, told the Jamaica Observer.
Sponsored by Korean East- West Power Company (EWP), this year’s festival started in Kingston on October 12 and ran until October 14. It then moved to Montego Bay on the 26th and concludes today.
The festival features four Korean-made movies ranging from action to romance.
My Paparotti is a biographical drama based on the life of Kim Ho-joong, a high school gangster who transitions to an opera tenor with the guidance of his music teacher.
All About My Wife is romantic comedy, as is Very Ordinary Couple. Action fans will love The Thieves. “Introducing Korean contemporary films, which reflect the diverse culture of Korea, is expected to contribute greatly to improving the image of Korea,” Lim added.
