Five gifts NOT to give a guy
The world knows that girls love getting gifts, and guys seem to enjoy giving them. But, guys like feeling special too. Plus Christmas is coming up and there are always birthdays to enjoy as well. Yet, it seems that the gifting option for guys over the years has come up a little ‘blah’. Here are 5 gifts you probably should NOT get for your favorite guy (and a few suggested alternatives).
1. A tie2. Socks3. Flower/Fruit scented body lotion sets4. A letter you poured your heart out into.5. A wallet
Ties are nice, but typical. Unless it’s a tie he’s always wanted or spoke to you about getting, it’s alright to skip out on buying one. Plus all his aunties and his mom probably already got him a tie for previous occasions.
Suggestion: A stylish chain or bracelet. Yes guys wear jewelry too, and you don’t have to break the bank either. There are plenty of trendy jewelry pieces that are craft items or non-expensive metal, that guys might like. Look keenly.
That’s just a no no. It doesn’t matter how cool or cute you think the socks are.
Suggestion: Anything else. Seriously.
Yes it may smell great especially to us girls, but there’s hardly any guy out there that would like to smell like cherry blossom with a hint of vanilla and cinnamon spice.
Suggestion: Cologne. It’s made for guys, with a much ‘manlier’ scent a guy will likely prefer to wear and one that you may actually enjoy catching a whiff of every now and then.
It’s the cheaper way out, and at least you get to say it’s sentimental. But honestly, maybe a guy would prefer something a little bit more useful that requires a little less effort to enjoy on their part.
Suggestion: If this person is a reader, then go ahead and get them a copy of the book to their favourite series (if there is one) or try to get your hand on that book they always wanted but just never got around to getting.
If the guy isn’t a reader, a good alternative gift could be some quality headphones. It’s the perfect tool to help him effortlessly enjoy his music.
Those are pretty much useless anyway, and every guy probably has about 4 or 5 of those thrown somewhere around the house that they’ve gotten from previous gift givers.
Suggestion: This might sound strange but there are actually some pretty cool phone cases out there that can do things to make your phone even better. What guy wouldn’t appreciate a phone case that can actually charge your phone while it’s on it, or one that amplifies the phone’s sound? (Yes these things exist) and if you don’t think phone cases are the way to go, any other gadget might do.
So let’s try and stay away from the ties, socks, wallets and all the other cliché’s of gift giving for the guys. This year, let’s give them something to they may actually enjoy.
