daCosta Cup quarter-finals kick off today
CLARENDON PARK, Clarendon — The quarter-finals of the ISSA/Flow daCosta Cup football competition kicks off today with one game, Lennon High taking on Port Antonio High in a Zone Q game at the Juici Field in Clarendon Park, starting at 3:00 pm.
Sixteen teams, the top two from each of the eight inter-zone groups have qualified for what is expected to be an intense and exciting three rounds of play that will decide the semi-finalists.
The other seven games will be played tomorrow afternoon.
Lennon High, with Merron Gordon back at the helm, have quietly moved their way through the competition, placing second to defending champions Clarendon College in the first round and were also runners up in the inter-zone round to St Elizabeth Technical High School.
Port Antonio High, semi-finalists two seasons ago, come into the game with a better record, on paper, having won their first round group and were one of four schools to have a perfect winning record in the inter-zone round, winning all three games.
Travis Grant scored four of Lennon High’s six goals in the inter-zone round and could be the man to lead them today, while Port Antonio High will look to Ramone Russell, Genoy Harrison and Reynaldo Skervin.
