CC aiming to sweep schoolboy titles, says ‘Tegat’ Davis
CLARENDON College are not only aiming to repeat as ISSA/Flow daCosta Cup champions; they are also looking to win the three titles that eluded them last season — the Flow Super Cup, the Ben Francis Knockout and the season-ending Olivier Shield.
That’s according to their coach, Paul ‘Tegat’ Davis.
“That is the aim; we are trying to go for all four trophies this year, so we just have to take it one step at a time and see what happens,” said Davis, following Tuesday’s 0- 0 draw with Munro College in their last game of the inter-zone round at Juici Park.
And, so far, they are on track, topping their preliminary round and inter-zone groups to secure a spot in both the daCosta Cup quarter-finals and the first round of the Super Cup.
Clarendon College, one of four unbeaten teams left in the rural area, boast an impressive, but not explosive, record after 11 games: seven wins, four draws, 36 goals for and four against.
They will kick off their hunt for the Super Cup glory today against Manning Cup hotshots Hydel High, before resuming their daCosta Cup campaign against Dinthill Technical in the quarter-final round on Wednesday.
The seven-time daCosta Cup champions will also face parish rivals Glenmuir High and western powerhouse Rusea’s High in quarter-final round Group S.
