Waterhouse look to kickstart RSPL season
Struggling Waterhouse FC will be hoping to kick-start their season under new interim coach Anthony Patrick when they host Cavalier SC at Drewsland in a 4:00 pm Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) encounter today.
Waterhouse are toiling in the relegation zone in 11th spot on four points after losing four of their six games which prompted Calvert Fitzgerald to step down as head coach on Wednesday.
The former champions have once again turned to Patrick to take them through this difficult time, it is understood, until a permanent arrangement if made with former Reggae Boy Paul Young.
And Waterhouse should be fired up enough to get the better of a Cavalier team in seventh spot on eight points.
Veteran Jermaine ‘Tuffy’ Anderson will be their main hope once again and with the likes of Romario Campbell, Evan Taylor and Nicholy Findlayson, Waterhouse should make it a tough evening for the visiting Cavalier.
Meanwhile, former champions Montego Bay United have surged to the top of the league winning four of their last five games to be on top with 13 points. The league’s top scorer Dino Williams with six goals will again lead their charge in a tough clash with a Harbour View outfit down in ninth spot on six points at the WesPow park scheduled for 4:00 pm.
It should be a very good match between two talented teams boosting the core of the local chapter of the Reggae Boys.
Harbour View will be without the incomparable Ian ‘Pepe’ Goodison at the back, but will welcome back Rosario Harriott and alongside Kaemmar Daley, John Ross-Edwards, Nicholas Beckett and Jorginho James, the ‘Stars of the East’ could secure win number two.
Williams, Jermaine Woozencroft, Allan Ottey, Owayne Gordon, Dwayne Ambuseley will be the main players for the St James outfit.
Second-placed Portmore United on 13 points will also be in a tough match against sixth-placed Humble Lion on eight points at the Middlesex International College at 4:00 pm. It should be an intriguing game in which Humble Lion are favoured to win having the more experienced players in their line-up.
At the Spanish Town Prison Oval, home team Rivoli United in eighth spot on seven points entertain FC Reno in third spot with 11 points in a game that could go either way.
Meanwhile, bottom-placed the University of the West Indies (UWI) on four points will be hunting their second win against an inconsistent Boys’ Town in 10th spot on six points. UWI know a win would see them leapfrog their opponents as they fight to climb out of the relegation zone.
On Monday, fourth-placed Arnett Gardens on 10 points host fierce rivals Tivoli Gardens in fifth spot on eight points in a mouth-watering clash at the Anthony Spaulding Sports complex starting at 8:30 pm.
