Assist the police, Seiveright urges St Thomas residents after woman killed
ST THOMAS, Jamaica – Jamaica Labour Party caretaker for St Thomas Eastern, Delano Seiveright, on Sunday appealed for residents to assist the police with any information that can lead to the capture of the gunman behind the “cold-blooded murder” of Tanisha McCool at a gas station Saturday night.
According to Seiveright, in full view of staff and patrons at the gas station, it is alleged that a man walked up to McCool and shot her.
“He then attempted to fire again into Ms McCool while she lay flat on the ground, but the gun seemed to have jammed,” Seiveright said in a release. “He quickly left the scene thereafter.”
McCool was later pronounced dead at hospital.
While urging residents to tell the police what they know, he also commended the St Thomas police for their “quick and professional response to the murder”.
Meanwhile, Seiveright is appealing to Minister of National Security Peter Bunting to allocate more resources to the resource-starved parish, “especially given the fact that it has recorded the highest increase in murders since the start of the year running over 180 per cent”.
