U-20 Reggae Girlz defender eyes win over Curacao
PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — Konya Plummer, the Under-20 Reggae Girlz central defender, is confident they can get the better of Group B opponents Curacao in Saturday evening’s CFU Championship match at the Stade Sylvio Cator, starting 5:30 Jamaica time.
Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago are joint leaders of the group with three points each after recording 4-1 victories over St Vincent and the Grenadines and Curacao, respectively, on Thursday.
Curacao showed fight against Trinidad and took a surprise lead early in the encounter.
“I think Curacao will be a good challenge based on how I saw them play [against Trinidad & Tobago], but we are very confident,” Plummer told OBSERVER ONLINE here at the Kemael Hotel.
“Every game is important, but this game is extremely important because we want to win and be in a good position [in the group]. We didn’t score as many goals as we should have in the previous game [against St Vincent], so we want to dominate today by scoring a lot of goals,” she said.
Group A consists of Puerto Rico, Bermuda and hosts Haiti.
Two countries from each group will progress to the semi-finals, while the three top-placed teams will move on to the CONCACAF Finals later this year in Honduras.
