Beckford heads back to her true love
CAROLE Beckford, Film Commissioner/Manager, Creative Industries, Jampro, is heading back to sport (her true love), — this time in a regional post.
Following her 17-month stint as Film Commissioner where she piloted the JAMPRO team to its first Jamaica Film Festival, she leaves behind a great “act” to follow. It marks the end of her second period at Jampro, the first being from 2003 to 2009.
In her most recent role at Jampro, Beckford worked on attracting media production crews to shoot on location in Jamaica while developing programmes and offering support for the local industry. Her sectors of interest included film, music, fashion, gifting, animation and theatre. Prior to that she worked from 2013 to 2014 as special assistant to the president of the West Indies Cricket Board.
But Beckford has been a communications speicialist on national sports since 1998, including managing media for Usain Bolt.
Beckford holds a BSc and an MSc in journalism and human resource management from Mercy College in New York City, as well as an associate degree in education from Mico Teachers’ College in Kingston.
