Women’s U-20 Update: Jamaica lead SVG 2-1
PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — Jamaica lead St Vincent and the Grenadines 2-1 at half-time in the CFU Women’s Under-20 Group B game at the Estade Sylvio Cator.
Captain Khadija Shaw opened the scoring in the 15th minute for the technically superior Jamaicans.
But St Vincent equalised in the 24th minute via an own goal from what seemed a harmless situation. Jamaica’s defender Konya Plummer jumped well to make a defensive header from a St Vincent free kick, but watched in agony as the ball bounced and looped over the head of goalkeeper Ricquelle Farquharson.
Shaw gave back Jamaica the lead in the second minute of first-half stoppage time when she scored from the penalty spot after being fouled by St Vincent and the Grenadines goalkeeper Annesta Richards.
The custodian was also red-carded for the offence.
