LOCAL start-up technology company Amber Connect has been invited to attend Web Summit 2015 in Dublin, Ireland. CEO of Amber Connect, Dushyant Savadia, told the Jamaica Observer that his company “will be one of the first technology start-up companies in Jamaica and the Caribbean to be chosen as an exhibitor/presenter at the prestigious event.”
Web Summit is slated to be held from November 3rd to 5th and has been the catalyst to funding and assisting in the success for hundreds of global companies such as Uber and Drop Box. The event is expected to host 1300 international media houses, 30,000 attendees, 700 speakers and hundreds of investors from over 100 countries.
Last year, the networking event included guest speakers such as Peter Thiel, CEO of the Founders Fund, a member of the famed Paypal mafia and one of Facebook’s first investors; Drew Houston, founder and CEO of Drop Box; Tony Fadell, founder and CEO of Nest; Mark Pincus, co-founder of Zynga; sports star Tony Hawk; actress Eva Longoria; Adrien Grenier of Entourage fame; pop star Bono; and a host of others.
Major brands including Amazon, Google and Box were also well represented. Geographically, 45 per cent of the attendees were Europeans, with another 31 per cent from the United States, nine per cent from Asia and the remaining 15 per cent from the rest of the world.
