UK organisations to stage women’s empowerment conference in Ocho Rios
TWO United Kingdom-based organisations, headed by women with Jamaican roots, have joined forces to bring together inspiring women from across the world in Ocho Rios for a women’s conference aimed at empowering women and positively impact their lives.
The two-day conference, titled ‘Every Woman Inspired (EWI)’, takes place on October 18 and 19 in Ocho Rios under the theme “Economic Empowerment and Engaging in Change”. It is being staged by WILDE International Network and One Step Forward Consultancy, both UK-based organisations with vested interest in empowering women and youth in Jamaica.
The conference will feature speakers from the UK, United States, Jamaica and Nigeria, among other countries.
“We are taking a global holistic approach to empowering women at the conference in terms of the issues and topic that are to be explored. We have a great pool of inspirational presenters from across the world, women who will share their success stories and speak to just about every aspect of women’s empowerment such as health and wellness, starting a business, and economic empowerment,” said Rasheda Malcolm, CEO of WILDE International Network.
Malcolm explained that the conference will also feature debates, competitions and makeovers. “We are seeking to bring something different with EWI, it’s about ensuring that the women do not leave the same way they came. They must leave with something positive that will inspire them to make important life changing decisions,” she said.
Among the speakers at the conference are noted motivational speaker and author Elvira Guzman; psychotherapist Celeste Wansley from the United States; entrepreneur Koko Bassey from Nigeria; award winning entrepreneur and founder of Yana Cosmetics Dr Yana Johnson; award winning poet and author Patricia Foster; and personal coach Marcia Gordon from the UK. Presenters from Jamaica include aesthetic physician Dr Sandra Knight; life coaches Sonia Henry and Lorraine Givans; entrepreneur and CEO of Blazing Trails Harriet Clarke and Marie ‘PR Girl’ Berbick, PR specialist and founder of Sisters United for Prayer Healing, Empowerment & Restoration.
“We are imploring women who want that boost to make those important changes in their lives that will take them to the next level, to come out and be empowered at EWI. Let us rap and help each other to become the women we were meant to be. The full conference topics are available on the website at www.everywomaninspired.org. ” Malcolm said.
