Rivoli dedicate victory to absent head coach
ASSISTANT Coach Marlon Williams believes Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Humble Lion can be used as a fillip to kick-start their Red Stripe Premier League season.
The St Catherine side endured a rough start to their campaign, losing three of their previous five games, and entered Sunday’s contest sharing the relegation space with newcomers UWI.
They now sit three points above the drop zone (on seven points) after securing their second win of the season.
“We have been playing well, but we just weren’t scoring the goals. So we made some adjustments and it worked,” said Williams.
“This is one of our best performances so far,” he added, “and I am really happy for the boys because they have been working hard. We are just hoping to use this win as a stepping stone to build our season.”
Williams also dedicated the victory, which was made possible by a last-gasp Kemar Bennett brace, to head coach Harold Thomas.
“Due to certain circumstances he’s not here today. But this win is for him,” said Williams.
