Paul Bogle, Seaforth advance to Inter-zone round
GOLDEN GROVE, St Thomas — Paul Bogle edged St Thomas Technical 1-0 at Eastern Banana on Saturday in a top-of-the-table game in Zone O of the ISSA/Flow daCosta Cup competition.
The lone goal was scored by Acinton Frankson in the 71st minute.
Both teams started out in attacking mode with St Thomas’s wave led by Odane Grant, Dwight Shamers and Cagroy Forbes, while Paul Bogle assault was led by Fancy Hu Stewart, Acinton Frankson, Shamar Scott and Zain Wilson.
Paul Bogle had the first real chances to take the lead in the first half, but Wilson, Frankson and Remako Wilson were denied by the St Thomas defence.
The deadlock was finally broken when Paul Bogle’s Noheel Spaulding floated in a corner for Frankson to climb high and head past Levar Wilson in the St Thomas Goal.
Paul Bogle’s win put them into the Inter-zone round with 22 points, along with Seaforth on 15 points, who defeated Robert Lightbourne 4-0 on Saturday to confirm their progression.
Paul Bogle Coach Richard Williams was pleased with his team’s performance.
“We were confident that we will make it through this round. We have a young set of players and they are adjusting well. We are looking forward to the next round and see where it takes us,” he said.
