Humble Lion gracious in defeat
MAY PEN, Clarendon — Humble Lion Coach Linval ‘Pala’ Wilson took Sunday’s Red Stripe Premier League defeat to Rivoli United gracefully, promising that his team will bounce back.
The 0-2 loss, which ended their four-game unbeaten run, was a first for the central Clarendon side at home this season.
But they could consider themselves unlucky after they were denied twice by the crossbar and had a brilliant Wolry Wolfe effort parried by goalkeeper Marlon Henry, all with the scores locked at 0-0.
“We are going to have days like this,” said Wilson. “We weren’t looking for this result but even the biggest teams in the world have to face it.
“We have to enjoy the good and the bad days because it’s a part of the game. So all we have to do now is some soul searching and wheel and come again.”
Wilson also hailed his opponents for a good performance.
“They stuck to the task,” he said. “They were very compact, they were really mean and tough and they got two opportunities, because of lack of concentration on our part. But that’s how football is sometimes.”
