Five men sentenced for lottery scamming
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Five men were last week convicted for lottery scamming when they appeared in the St James Circuit Court.
Convicted under the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transactions) (Special Provisions) Act 2013 are:
Kasheve Haughton a 25-year-old bar operator of Hampton district in Plum Tree, St James. He was fined $250,000 or two years imprisonment and given a three-year prison sentence, which was suspended for three years.
Anthony Sparks, 27, who is a wood carver of Ducketts Road in Cambridge, St James, was also fined $250,000 or two years imprisonment at hard labour. He too was handed a three-year prison sentence, which was suspended for three years.
The third man, 20-year-old Hycal Junior Reid of Anchovy, St James was fined $100,000 or 12 months hard labour and sentence to 18 months hard labour, which was suspended for two years.
Then 21-year-old Tajae Jevaun Box a labourer of Cornwall Courts in Montego Bay, St James pleaded guilty and was fined $200,000 or two years at hard labour and sentenced to three years imprisonment at hard labour, suspended for three years.
The fifth man convicted is Carlton Conrad Brown, a labourer of Olympic Gardens in Kingston. He also pleaded guilty and was fined $250,000 or two years imprisonment at hard labour, in addition to a three-year prison sentence, which was suspended for three years.
