Cavalier, UWI in tame draw
CAVALIER SC and UWI FC drew goalless in their Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) game at Stadium East in a late kick-off on Sunday.
The result, however, did very little to enhance either of the teams’ positions in the standing as the stalemate will only see UWI joining Waterhouse on four points, but the former will remain at the bottom of the table despite Tivoli Gardens’ 4-0 whipping of Waterhouse.
The point garnered by Cavalier SC see them moving ahead of Arnett Gardens on eight points to the sixth position, but that could be short-lived as Arnett Gardens FC were scheduled to play their sixth-round game against Harbour View at the Compound last night. A win for Arnett Gardens, or even a draw, will see Cavalier SC slipping to seventh position with an inferior goal difference.
The game between Cavalier SC and UWI was intensely competitive, and the only thing missing was the game’s most precious commodity — goals. And it was not for the lack of created opportunities, as both teams created numerous good chances to gain an advantage.
Cavalier, in fact, had the best chance to win the game. However, Jason Watson missed the mark from close-up with goalkeeper Amal Knight caught out of position.
