Drag challenge this Sunday
Drag racers will be chomping at the bit to get back into action at Sunday’s Nestlé Supligen Drag Challenge #4 at Vernamfield, Clarendon.
As usual the Test & Tune, put on by the series organisers National Drag Racing Circuit (NDRC) on October 4, proved a good litmus test for the upcoming event.
“We had a high turnout despite the poor weather in other parts of the country which is very encouraging for Drag Challenge #4,” Stephen Gunter, NDRC executive member, told Auto.
With 71 cars showing up to the Test & Tune, Sunday’s race day should see its usual higher numbers.
Drag Challenge #4 is the penultimate round of the NDRC’s drag racing series and leaves little time for the various teams and drivers to gain points for their respective class championships.
Once such team hoping for a reversal of fortune is 2014 NDRC Team Champions Swiftune. Current standings put their A team, headed by Swiftune founder Ian Galbraith, in second place behind Mandeville’s Team M.A.D. They sit 41.67 points apart with Team M.A.D at 202 points.
“We can recover and win the championship, but it would require them to have a lot of bad luck and lose a lot,” Galbraith said.
