Apprentice show casts former Miss Universe Jamaica
KINGSTON, Jamaica – April Jackson, the Jamaican who was crowned Miss Jamaica Universe 2008, will be a part of this season’s cast of the reality business show the ‘Apprentice’.
Jackson, who owns her own boutique in Kingston, also founded a successful event management company and a children’s charity.
DailyMailUK said during Jackson’s interview for the show, she drew comparisons on being involved in the pageant and appearing on the Apprentice.
She said: “I was Miss Jamaica Universe. Clearly that makes me special. There is only a finite number of us.
“My friend was like you were Miss Jamaica 2008 – we are now in 2015. I was like honey, once Miss Jamaica always Miss Jamaica.”
“I think there’s a lot of similarities between being Miss Jamaica and being on the Apprentice. I appreciate that the Apprentice isn’t about a beauty pageant,” she said.
Jackson added that in her Miss Universe experience, it was highly competitive with 81 other contestants and noted that she was away from friends and family for over a month. Jackson said she will use the skills obtained during that period to help her on the show.
Talking about her chances of winning the show she said: “I’m Jamaican. We come first – we win on the track and we will win in the boardroom.”
The Apprentice returns to screens on Wednesday, October 14 on BBC.
