5 players to face ISSA disciplinary committee today
FIVE players, three from Manning’s School and two from Petersfield High, are scheduled to meet the Inter- Secondary Schools Sports Association’s (ISSA) Disciplinary Committee today at 12 noon at their Kingston offices after a brawl following their ISSA/Flow daCosta Cup Zone D game in Sav-la-Mar on Friday.
Reports reaching the Jamaica Observer are that an altercation between two players on the field during the game escalated after the game causing an all-out brawl between the two teams that are in a tight race for places in the inter-zone round that starts next week.
Manning’s School had won the game 2- 0 and, despite losing to Godfrey Stewart High 0-1 in a rescheduled game on Monday, lead with 12 points with a game in hand.
Godfrey Stewart are next on 11 points with two games to play, while Petersfield High and Maud McLeod are also on 10 points, also with two games to go.
Pending today’s meeting, the players summoned are provisionally suspended and so Manning’s would have been without the three in Monday’s loss, while Godfrey Stewart will not have their two players available for their game against Maud McLeod today.
