teenAGE Takes Style Out
teenAGE was live and alert this year at Jamaica Observer’s annual massive sale event Take Style Out, held this year on October 2. But the thing is, we didn’t get much shopping done. That’s simply because whopped out and about around the Half-Way-Tree area, bothering countless amounts of shoppers, enquiring about the #TSO experience of TSO from the perspective of teens just like you. Here’s what we saw:
• TEENS were out and about shopping, mainly in electronic stores with clothing stores coming in at a close second. The females far outweighed the males however, especially when it came to clothing. So we throw the question out, are males just generally uninterested in shopping or are there a limited amount of places where they can shop?
• #TSO was something of a family bonding experience for many TEENS for many if not all of them were spotted with parents or guardians by their sides laughing, talking and having fun.
• #TSO was also an ‘out with the besties’ event. Though not on the large scale, some teens were seeing roving the plazas with their friend. This was true of mostly males and those of TEENS of college age.
• Some TEENS didn’t bother to go home before #TSO. Yes, it seems that many of us went to enjoy the bargains straight outta school as many school uniform clad TEENS were seen shopping. These included: Wolmer’s, Jamaica College, The Queen’s School, among others.
Store owners said that that this year saw a lot of young people enjoying the deals and bargains offered.
