Getting motivated
Midterms are upon us, which means we’re halfway through the school term. Congrats on surviving thus far!
But if you’re anything like me you might be feeling a little discouraged by now.
No worries! Here are few tips for TEENs on getting motivated and staying motivated.
1. Nuh watch nuh face: paying attention to other persons’ success all the time can get not only tiring but borderline depressing. Pay attention to YOU. A wise person once said you can’t compare your behind-the-scenes to someone else’s highlight film reel.
2. Set reasonable goals and allow yourself time to achieve them: make specific goals and actively work towards them. Celebrate/reward yourself when you achieve what you’d aimed for.
3. Organise and plan: you’ll feel less stressed after you figure out what you NEED to do, as against what you merely want to get done. And when you’re not stressed and you know exactly what you have to do there’s no limit to what you can achieve.
4. Blue tick some people: some people don’t belong in your life anymore, plain and simple. Some old friends or acquaintances have no place in your new dream and new plan to achieve it.
5. Remind yourself of your goal and your plan regularly: vision boards, post-it notes and the classic talking to yourself in the mirror. Do whatever it takes to make sure your goal and your plan are foremost!
6. Positive self talk: don’t be afraid to stop yourself whenever you realise your self-talk is negative. Tell yourself positive things as often as possible.
