Lion hunt
Former champions Montego Bay United host Humble Lion at WesPow Park scheduled for 4:00 pm as they continue their surge towards the top of the Red Stripe Premier League.
Montego Bay United, who lost their opening encounter to Portmore United, are riding on the back of three impressive wins, climbing into second spot on nine points. It would take a brave punter to bet against them not notching win number four.
Dino Williams has been in great form bagging four goals to be the top marksman in the competition after four round of games.
Humble Lion, on the other hand, seem to play better with 10 men as indicated by there last two victories where they defeated both Tivoli Gardens and Arnett Gardens playing with a man short from the first half.
The defiant Clarendon-based outfit might not be third time lucky against this well-oiled Montego Bay United machine playing with 10 men, but have enough firepower to beat any team in the league.
The likes of Devon Hodges, Roberto Fletcher, François Swaby, Wolry Wolfe, Andrew Vanzie, Dwayne Campbell and Ricardo Cousins make Humble Lion a deadly pride.
It should be an intriguing encounter between two hard running teams worth going miles to see.
With leaders FC Reno on 10 points travelling to the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex to face Arnett Gardens on Monday night, the Portmore United/Cavalier clash should be an exciting encounter between two teams on the rebound.
The game will be played at the Middlesex International College in Clarendon starting at 4:00 pm.
Portmore United, who succumbed 0-1 to fellow promoted team UWI FC, were displaced as early leaders and are sitting in third spot on nine points. Cavalier, who were trounced 0-4 by Montego Bay, are now in fifth on seven points and both are eager to rebound and return to winning ways.
Harbour View, boosted by their 1-0 win over Waterhouse last Monday — their first of the season — will be looking to add the scalp of Tivoli Gardens to their collection. The Stars of the East are in seventh spot on six points, while the West Kingston-based Tivoli Gardens are 10th on two points.
Having taken up the unfamiliar position of bottom-place with one point, Waterhouse must kick-start their season with a win against ninth-placed UWI (three points) or head coach Calvert Fitzgerald could be the first coaching casualty of the season.
The match set for 4:00 pm at Drewsland will be Waterhouse’s second home game and they must win or face the wrath of their no-nonsense spectators who are accustomed to winning.
Boys’ Town, one of only three teams yet to taste victory in the league, are second from bottom on two points and will travel to the Spanish Town prison Oval to face eight-placed Rivoli United on four points.
It’s a crucial game for the ‘Red Brigade’ as they try to move out of the relegation zone and stay in touch with the leaders.
