FC Reno, H’View slip and slide to 1-1 result
FORMER many-time champions Harbour View FC and FC Reno fought doggedly to salvage a point during their Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) Monday night football extravaganza at the Harbour View Stadium.
However, their coaches were warmed to the fact that their teams could have done much better.
FC Reno started slowly and Harbour View took advantage of the malaise by moving swifter to the ball and taking the lead through Kevaughan Frater 21 minutes into the game.
Falling behind would prompt FC Reno into action and after dominating play for the better part of the second half, they drew level with a Kayce Bromfield goal in minute 64, through fortuitous circumstances.
A point in any event is much better than a loss, but neither team’s coach was completely satisfied that the result was the best that could be achieved on the night, notwithstanding the slippery underfoot conditions from late afternoon showers that made play contentious.
“The underfoot conditions never allowed us to play our game,” Head Coach of FC Reno Patrick Graham admitted. “But we have to take into consideration that we could have done more, especially in the middle of the park.
“The fact that we outnumbered Harbour View four to three in midfield gave us an advantage of which we never made capital. With the advantage we failed to pass the ball around as we are wont to do and were unable to get a better result from the game, especially in the second half when we put the ball down and began to play with greater purpose,” Graham added.
His opposite number Ludlow Bernard rued the fact that “we got behind the Reno defence, delivered a few crosses good but failed to make better use of the chances that fell our way to score and this really cost us here tonight. But Harbour View, we will rebound,” he added.
