Group 23 capture Sandals US Travel Agents Golf Tourney
OCHO RIOS, St Ann — The 13th staging of the annual Sandals US Travel Agents Golf Tournament has been deemed a success.
General manager of host Sandals Golf and Country Club, Miguel Arthurs, says “all objectives were met”.
The annual event that brings American travel planners and consultants to the shores of Jamaica to taste the Sandals Resorts International brands, also scored big with quality golfing action and efforts to raise funds and the profile of the Sandals Foundation, which is a bread winner for the resort’s grass roots golfing programme.
“It was an overall success… everybody had fun and the travel agents are saying this has been the best tournament so far… people were shouting and screaming,” Arthurs told the Jamaica Observer after a day on the greens in Upton, St Ann, yesterday.
“People are already looking forward to the next year, which I am sure will be as much fun,” he added.
In the four-team scramble tournament, which was played over two days, Group 23 maintained Friday’s lead to claim championship honours, but at press time the final scores were still being counted.
The victorious team comprised Junior Rodney, Alberta Brown, Karen Scantlebury, and Jacqueline Bass.
Nick Middaugh won the sidebar longest drive competition and Roland Farrar the putting contest, both aimed at raising money for the Sandals Foundation.
