Strawberry Hill, an Island Outpost property, has been named World Spa Awards Best Hotel Spa in Jamaica. The awards, which were announced on Monday, September 14 at InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort in Vietnam, recognise the global leaders in the wellness industry.
The World Spa Awards were created in response to the new era of growth and popularity in spa tourism. Winners were selected by votes from professionals in the spa industry including travel agents, media, and consumers. All properties were evaluated based on their spa programs, and practices and amenities available to guests.
“We were just overwhelmed when we heard about the nomination. Then, when we found out we won, I could not contain myself”, shared Island Outpost Group Spa Director Sienna Creasy as she walked us through the spa. “It’s our first property and the most classical one” she continued We decided to upgrade and enhance the facilities, which will in turn help to promote Brand Jamaica. We’ve upgraded our body treatments and have been working closely with Oracabessa’s very own Naniki Rina, the owner of Naniki Naturals, to create a line of organic oils and treatments made with ingredients grown locally.”
The spa offers five treatment rooms with a cadre of experienced spa therapists who have worked with the likes of United States President Barack Obama and Hollywood actor Tom Cruise. The signature treatment, the Blue Mountain Body Elixir, begins with a body scrub to increase circulation and tone the skin, and a warm 45-minute hydrotherapy Vichy massage, which employs the Scots Hose to rinse and cleanse away dry skin while an invigorating rain shower delivers a jacuzzi-style deep tissue massage along the spine and upper back. Your Under the Dryer team revisits one of our favourite R&R haunts.
