Port Antonio whip Buff Bay 5-0
PORT Antonio High whipped Buff Bay High 5-0 for their second victory in as many games in Zone L of the ISSA/FLOW daCosta Cup football competition at Snow Hill on Wednesday.
Reynaldo Skervin (14th, 50th), and Genoy Harrison (65th, 88th) led the way with two goals each, while Ramone Russell notched the other in the 58th minute.
In a one-sided affair Port Antonio went to work and was rewarded early when Rohane Weir passed to Skervin just inside the penalty area and he controlled, turned and volleyed past a helpless Michael Gungeorges.
Port Antonio launched a number of attacks through Skervin, Harrison, Javoy Belnavis and Rohane Weir, but stout defending by Romario Biggs and Stalin Blythe kept them at bay. Buff Bay created a few attacks through Rudolph Blake and Omari Anderson as Port Antonio lost defender Kavaughan Smith to a second booking in the 42nd minute by referee Weston Costley for a tackle against Anderson.
Despite returning with 10 players, Port Antonio added to their lead when Genoy Harrison’s shot was poorly handled by Gungeorges, and the ball bounced to Skervin who fired into an empty goal.
Shortly after Russell was on the scoresheet when he headed home a Kemoy Gillespie cross.
Harrison was next to score from a goal mouth melee, and he completed his brace when he slotted home after substitute Assaune Allwood’s shot was poorly handled by Gungeorges.
In another game, Happy Grove edged Fair Prospect 1-0 at Hector’s River.
