Mark Barnett appointed President of NWC
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Board of Commissioners of the National Water Commission (NWC) today announced, by way of a media release, the appointment of Mark Barnett to the position of president of the National Water Commission (NWC).
His appointment took effect on August 1.
Barnett, who had been acting in the position since January of this year, was confirmed by the board of commissioners at a meeting held last week, the release said.
“Prior to his latest acting stint as NWC president, Barnett served the enterprise as a vice president, and previously in a number of varied positions islandwide. He is an engineer with extensive experience managing both technical and commercial operations for water and waste water services at the National Water Commission during his nearly 19-year tenure with the commission,” the release added.
While he was acting as president, the release said Barnett initiated and oversaw a number of new initiatives as well as directed the enterprise’s response to a number of critical developments.
According to the release, the board has acknowledged Barnett’s strong leadership of the enterprise during a difficult transition period and also noted that Barnett is well aware of the NWC’s critical role in national development, and is someone who has demonstrated his commitment to using his experience and expertise to positively impact the various areas of the company’s operations in achieving established targets.
